Our First Races

So I finished my first race. I ran a 5k this morning and my time was just under 32 min. Not too shabby. I was hoping to finish in 30 min, but I'm proud that i ran the whole thing! Next stop...1/2 marathon in April. God speed to myself!

Trey ran his first race today too. Well he really ran the first couple of steps and then cried the rest of the way while walking to a last place finish. I mean what kind of mom makes their kid run a race when he was puking not more than 12 hours ago?  Well, I pre-registered and there weren't any refunds...so Trey's first race experience has been tainted, hopefully we haven't ruined his future track career!  Let's take a closer look...

Filling Dad's Shoes

We thought this was pretty special when Trey did it when he was little, but now we know that most kids must try on their parent's shoes.  We figured we'd stick with the picture of Breton in Matt's shoes even though he loves my red heels the best.  Anytime the closet is open my new red shoes are donned on Breton's feet.

Race Day

Trey and I are going to run our first races on December 6th. I'm doing a 5k and Trey will do a kids race afterwards. Trey and Breton have been practicing and training for the race, everyday they get set and run around the house. It's good exercise for Trey, but Breton is burning too many calories...how does one encourage a 1 year old to sit and relax? We'll never know.

Our Night Out

We got invited to go see Disney on Ice. It was pretty fun, Trey thought it was the coolest thing. Breton didn't care much for the ice skating...popcorn and cotton candy kept him busy the whole time. It was pretty cute when Breton started feeding Matt the popcorn...too bad Matt is a germ-i-phobe. Ha Ha!

Our Next Adventure

We hit the beach and the kids loved every minute of it. The water was so warm it didn't even feel refreshing. It might as well have been bath water. A definite change from the ice cold ocean in Oregon. Breton was a little too brave, he thinks he's a lot more capable than he is, so that poses issues. He's definitely our little dare devil. We all enjoyed swimming and playing in the sand. Oh yeah and I'm sure we were the whitest people on the beach!

We've Arrived

So we arrived in lovely Florida in July and we still consider Oregon home, I'm sure we will for a while...well probably ever! First we were in Boynton Beach for 3 or 4 weeks...it's a retirement community so there were no kids or playgrounds in sight. The kids and I went crazy, but we got out on the weekends and we went to Lion Country Safari...pretty awesome. This rhino was headed straight for our car...Matt had to make a mad dash around another car to get away. We would have been toast! Oh and Trey got to feed the giraffes. I was at a safe distance from both the tongue and the flying saliva (as it was very windy that day).
